July 2013

We live really close to a tennis court that we love to walk to and play.

We aren't the biggest fans of IKEA furniture but I needed a area for the kitchen for extra storage so we had a good time getting a few things and planking while at it.  I think Brady has been to IKEA only a handful of times, so its fun going with him.

Sadly, this picture was taken only days before Brady's beautiful bike got stolen right out of our garage.  It's a touchy subject.  We use to go on a lot of bike rides around out neighborhood together.

I mean these trees though

... and this bridge.

and this guy, really.

We decided if we ever fall into millions and millions,
we want to buy this mansion with it's HUGE tree

My sweet grandparents gave us this headboard and end tables.  I still want to spruce it up but love the bedding my parents gave us from west elm.  It makes going to bed so much more comfy.

Another wedding gift I adore is from my friend Nicole... she found these crystal salt and pepper shakers from her favorite LA restaurant and it's makes putting spices on toast so much more fun

Every time I drive past Brady's hospital I blow him a kiss and say hi.  Jackson does it too without even thinking about it.

It's Brady's birthday soon and he loves my lemon and poppy seed
bread I make so I made it for him when he got out of work.

It only took me days to paint them...

Who knew I could paint? No but really I can't, but it was fun trying.

Once I get started, I don't stop. I see too many projects to do and have to finish them.  Maybe Jackson is getting too cool or too old, but I couldn't resist one last hurrah at the puppets.
It's Brady's Birthday!  29!  I made breakfast in bed.  He isn't a big breakfast person which I could never understand, but I did it anyway.  He wakes up very early for residency rounds at the hospital everyday, so that means I woke up when it was very dark outside.  He is the best. THE BEST.

He had to work all day.  It felt like the longest day with him gone.  So I cleared out more boxes, then decorated the heck out of the dining room.  Birthdays are a big deal to me and worth all the sweat to make it extra special.

This three layered made from scratch yellow cake with chocolate
frosting took me only 4 hours to make!  What's the deal?

We had a gift card from our wedding to go to Cheesecake Factory so we treated ourselves to dinner.  It was a very Happy Birthday dinner for Brady boo.

Right? Such a babe.

he's such a good sport, crown and all

Jackson gave him a hug he drew

I wish we did more, but it was fun for me to see him extra happy!

Elise, Drew and Finn all came up to walk around Old Town Pasadena, get pizza and watch a movie.  It was so fun to have family come visit.

such a fun nephew!  he will be a big brother soonish!

I surprised Brady with a little surprise family/a few friends
party at doheny for some morning surf and cupcakes.

did little Jade's hair

Near the end of July, I picked up Jackson from the airport in Burbank.  Words can't even describe how excited I get to see him walking off the plane first.  It's like a rush of emotions mixed with butterflies.
We put together some ramps and played for hours and hours

another toof loose...

Garfield Park is one of Jackson's favorite because it's filled with lots of green green grass

tooth gone!

his cute little note to the tooth fairy! I die every time.

We drove down to my parent's place because the Holland family (my mom's side) was having a little reunion in Laguna Beach and at my parent's house.  Most of the Hollands live in Northern California, Texas and some in Utah or Washington, so it was good to see people we haven't seen in a while.

My grandpa Holland is really into genealogy so he spoke about it with pictures since he has written books about our family.

Jackson's best friend lives two doors down from my parent's and
we had his friend Gabe over to play with pokemon.

We came home from San Clemente and he was stoked for Pokemon again, that he laid them all out. He is so much like my youngest brother blake and my dad.  Laying everything out and organizing it over and over again.

all that fun caused a fun hangover during dinner time

We have a great ward full of a lot of kids, mainly girls, so we met up at the Rosemead water park that's $1 per kid. They had a fun time going on the slides over and over again.

The ice cream truck all the kids to the yard.

Is this month update over yet... for reals!  Almost. I promise.  This whole catching up business is very time consuming but it's fun to go back to memory lane.

So the metro is walking distance from where we live so we had this idea to go down to Hollywood via train only.  We walked to the train...

He started walking towards the tempting water...

And then like that, he was wet, doing gangham style (sp?)
Tourists were taking pictures as if he was street entertainment.
I am a relaxed mom and don't sweat things like this like most moms would do, I just figure the kid likes to have fun, I totally get it.

El Capitan Theatre is one of our very favorite.  Brady would take us two on dates to Disney movies here while we were dating and loved how they have a Broadway-like show before the movie.  The speakers are all Dolby so your seats shake when it gets loud.

Wet Jackers came out covered in confetti.  It was a good show!

We were tired, so tired we looked like this coming out of the movie.  The train ride was much more fun going there then coming back but good thing it wasn't long.

the next day we went for a bike ride to the parks near us to play soccer.
Jackson LOVES our elevator in our complex.

We finally emptied out Jackson's piggy bank.  We separated each coin, dollar etc and tried to teach him about the value of money.  We talked about saving half, paying tithing and then he could use the rest for a toy.

He brought the money to Target and spilled it out for the lady to then count every single penny whilst there was a large line behind us.  Half of the people were laughing and the other half didn't seem to be entertained.  It was pretty cute.

My friend Megan made me a yummy flourless cake after I did her hair and makeup for a wedding.  It was so so good.

Sorry, a bit blurry, but something I do is put what he wants to dream about or a goal he has, write it and then we put it under his pillow after kissing it.  My pictures are so blurry, and for that I apologize.  I don't use our nice camera, just my dinky iphone.

We also wanted to put together a dresser made of crates.  The idea was way more fun than actually doing it.  It turned out alright but it was long hours.

grocery store and park bike ride

okay whew! July is finally in the books.  Sorry for the longest entry.
