October 2013

The middle of the month started with me picking up Drew and Elise from LAX, flying in from NY. I have always wanted to try this out.
Then my sister and her best friend came up and stayed with us for a few days.  I fixed their hair (dreads) and we walked around Old Town Pasadena.  Amber Mozo is a professional photographer for SURFER magazine, so she took these pretty pictures below.

One of my best friends sent me this book out of the blue, and I read it in a few hours.  It was so so so so so good.  I can't wait to read it again.
Brady's group in residency mixed with some more LA County residents have a league that they play soccer together against other hospitals.  I went to watch him play and then his team asked me to lead them in some yoga so I stretched them out.

That night we went to the Norton Simon Museum down the street from us and spent hours there looking at all the Rembrandt's and Picasso's and their gardens... it was a fun date night.

We tried a new italian place La Trattria in Old Town and it was so good.  We went back weeks later and it moved to a different location.

.. and this is so random, but I painted our headboard for our bed. It's not perfect, nor did I plan on it turning out but I'm digging anything white.

We had the elders over for dinner, and two sets of them at that.
It can get a little awkward or bland sometimes during dinner after you get through the normal questions like, "Where are you from..."
"What are you doing after your mission..."
So I played a little game with them.
I put little 3x5 cards under their placemats and they couldn't see the names and taped it to their foreheads.  It def worked out and it cracked us up.  The ice broke over and over again.
The missionaries come over all the time for food and free haircuts so it's been fun getting to know them and contacting their families for them when they need certain items.  Brady's brother is serving his mission and mine will be going out in a year so we try to pay it forward.

Most of our nights include dinner, maybe a show or a movie, playing games while Brady studies and going to bed early.  We played my brother-in-law's scrabble game he re-designed and they sold in Anthro and Restoration Hardware.  It's a pretty fun game and it's probably the only game I can beat smarty-pants Brady in.  English and history was always easy but math and science, not so much so we are good balance.

google has some pretty fun apps to use when you google chat, and I live for these conversations.  I sure miss my little sidekick.
